This week has been a pretty busy one, and I have an even busier weekend coming up.

And I have an affection for lists. So here we go.

1. I started feeling better this week. And got a bit ahead of myself.

2. Because now I feel like crap again.

3. I've been craving the most awkward things this week: pickles, chocolate chip cookies, pineapple, and raspberry vinegarette dressing.

4. I've also been craving the most insane things I can't eat. Like: Subway and hotdogs.

5. I'm soo getting into Halloween. I'm making this cake for a party this weekend. I'll make sure to take pictures, because I think it's adorable. :)

6. I'm still not totally sure what I'm going to be for Halloween. We have 5 parties to go to, on 2 different days, so we will probably do 2 different costumes. Stay tuned to figure it out :)

7. I had a hormonal meltdown. The first of many I'm sure. We were carving pumpkins, I was trying to carve this design more or less. I cut it's tail off. I had a meltdown and started hysterically crying. Then because it was so ridiculous. I started cracking up and was hysterically laughing. And crying. At the same time. Ohhh baby, how Momma loves you so....

8. We went to the pumpkin farm this week too, it was adorable.

9. Tonight I'm going to church for a Girls Night. :) There are 12 different 'classes' you can take, plus an ice cream social after. My mom, grandma, and I, plus a BUNCH of girls from church are going. I signed up for a jewelery making class.

10. Tomorrow is a party and a hockey game. I'm sooo excited. LOOOVE hockey.

11. I've had a bit of a runny nose, which makes an already crappy feeling person, feel even worse.

12. Have a great weekend :D

2. This weekend is a pretty busy one. Saturday we are going out to a yuuuummy dinner that I have been looking forward to and begging my body to get sick prior or after it. Sunday is church, the WHOLE family is going to a Hockey game, and then we are going out to dinner again.

3. I can't wait to go get our pumpkins and carve them up. I always attempt to do awesome carvings, mess it up, and go to the grocery store to get another one. I end up doing a standard 3 triangle, funny mouth carving.

4. I have a sneezing problem lately. I sneeze. all. the. time. BLAH!

5. We have a little bun in the oven :) Although I'm sure people have already guessed this!!! Seeing as how sick I've been.

6. I wanted to do a really cute post of just that. BUT. I think it's adorable to just stick it in this big list and see who notices it. :D

7. We are insanely excited and soooo looking forward to feeling better. I'm going to do an all-baby post and write everything down, the due date, information, all that good stuff.

8. I made a promise to one of my bloggy best friends that this wouldn't become an all baby all the time blog. So it won't. :)

9. What the crap is up with that kid in the balloon, who wasn't in the balloon, who was in the attic, who told everyone on live t.v. that ''they did it for the show''...hmmm..sooo sketchy.

I was surfing youtube last night when I saw this video:

Basically, if you don't want to watch it, it's about a woman who is calling in to get Kayne West tickets. In order to get the tickets, she has to call her husband (on the radio) and tell him their 9 year old son isn't his. If he doesn't cuss or freak out and says "I still love you." She wins.

Well, it went horribly wrong. He didn't cuss. He did freak out. And ended up telling her "I'm sleeping with your sister for the past year."

Uhm, woah.

Then when it came to the light about her playing a joke, it begged the question: Did the radio station go to far? Did the wife go to far? Who's to blame for this situation?

Here's my take on it.

The wife knew she was calling in to play a joke on someone. The radio station picked the joke. On one hand, it's a very serious joke to be played, but on the other, she knew what she was getting herself into. (The last tickets they gave away for Jonas Brothers, a girl had to call her grandmother and come 'out'.) She knew that they were pretty serious "jokes" (if you can call them that....).

The wife isn't to blame for this. The radio station certainly isn't to blame for this. The husband is the one who got into bed with someone else. No one forced him to. He wasn't doing it for tickets. He was doing it for his own self. That's his fault.

Sad situation, and I'm not sure why I felt it was so "blogable" but I just had to put my 2 cents in! :D

Hope everyone is enjoying their October so far, and I promise I'll be a better blogger shortly. Lots of posts coming up :)

Hey Kanye, you're an ahole, shame on you for taking that moment away from that girl.

Maybe in your eyes Taylor's video shouldn't have won. But let me tell you something, under NO circumstances should he have gone on stage during an acceptance speech, to take the mic from her, to tell her that Beyonce deserved that title. Shame. Shame. Shame. Kanye should be banned from award shows. He always acts like a fool at them.

Congrats again Taylor! You deserve this moment.

Being anonymous in the blog world is an oxymoron.
I am posting things about my everyday life and family and I don't include pictures or names.

Why? For starters, it was because I was a nanny. I didn't want anything to run into that, out of safety and consideration. For me, for the kids, for the family.

Now, it's just a personal choice. There's nothing to hide but why put it all out there? :)

There might be a time where that changes. Actually. There probably will be. However, there are lots of great blogs out there that I enjoy that are completely anonymous. And I love them just as much as I do the blogs that aren't anonymous.

So that's why. I didn't get asked at all. But I just wanted to put it out there.

1. District 9 was a total guy movie, I wasn't a fan. Although, I really want to take the little boy alien home with me please. Thankyouverymuch.

2. I've been very busy getting scrubs altogether. It's really hard to find them around here! Geez.

3. It's been pretty warm here, not ridiculously hot, so I'm thankful. Tomorrow is supposed to rain and thunderstorm though. Yuck.

4. We have been doing something almost every night this week. Too busy to relax.

5. We have another wedding this weekend. I never thought I'd be almost to the point of exhaustion with weddings.

6. Ollie Nugget is doing good, much better in fact. :)

7. Tonight's t.v. line up is good. Police Women of Broward County (don't judge me.), Real Housewives of Atlanta and Project Runway is back. I'm starting to love Thursday night t.v.

8. I'm so excited for Fall t.v. to start again!!! Trauma, Mercy, and Grey's. I have an unhealthy addiction to hospital\medical dramas.

9. I'm ready for Fall in general to start again.

10. My parents are having a dinner party tonight. I'm making 2 yummy Pampered Chef recipes: Creamy Garlic Dip and a Chocolate Raspberry Dream Torte. Yummmm.....

So my kids are moving. :( I'm so sad. I've been with them for so long!!! It breaks my heart, but I know that we will stay in touch.

My boss (the father) was a doctor at a local hospital. I went to school to be a Radiologic Technician. Put two and two together, I got an interview and was offered a position!!! I'm really excited and so thankful that he helped me out before he left. They're a great family.

I love this, it's why I went to school, and I can see myself doing this. In the long run, I would love to go to medical school and become a Radiologist. :) This is going to be so exciting, I just can't wait!!! As of right now, I am working semi- night shift. So it should be fun!

Is it bad if I say I'm most excited about being able to wear these:

We were supposed to go see Time Traveler's Wife, but, we are going with 3 other couples tonight, and needless to say, the girl's got out-voted, District 9 it is. So we are planning on making Monday a girl's day (none of us have to work--after the Sunday wedding!) and we are going to go see it. Originally our girl's day was going to be mani's and pedi's...so we're just going to have to fit it all in!!! :)

I'm officially...

AN ENGAGED GIRL!!!

YES SERIOUSLY! I can't beleive it myself! It was such a surprise. :)

We went to a picnic at my parents house, both of our families were going to be there, and this isn't weird because both our mothers are friends, we all attend the same church, etc. So we are all there, and the reason for all of us getting together was showing off Oliver.

We get there, and everything is so regular and normal. As a side note to explain to you how I really had no clues: I was wearing Texas Longhorn yoga pants and a tank, and my hair was up in a pony tail, I promise you--I had no idea.--or I would have done pageant make up and close to a ballgown. (kidding..sort of...)

After dinner, I'm helping my momma clean up the plates from outside. I go inside with her, and she runs back out for more. I rinse the plates, come back outside, and Boy is standing there and everyone else is sitting around, no one is acting weird. I come back over to the tables, sit down, and Boy says "stand up". At this point, I still have NO idea what is going on. I stand up, and like me, start to giggle.

He says "H (well, my name) I love you so much. You make me so happy." At this point he gets on one knee. I start to cry. Our mama's start to cry. I giggle and cry more. Then he says "Will you marry me?" This statement is followed by me saying "Are you serious? Are you kidding me? Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh." "YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!" And then there's lots of crying, and clapping, and hugs, and shaking, and excitement!

And the ring!!! AHHH!!!

Overall. The proposal was perfect. I was totally and completely caught off guard!!! I'm so happy and blessed to have a man like him in my life :) I can't wait to start planning an amazing wedding!

But for now, we are going to enjoy being engaged!!!

Ollie Nugget is home and okay.

He is not too into this new situation, which, as a new furmama, makes me nervous!

He's not eating much.
He doesn't drink much.
If we come by him, he tries to walk away from us.
He's still on medication from the vet.
He's only peed once.

Oliver was in a situation of abuse in his last home. I'm getting nervous that maybe because he remembers this, he is having a hard time adjusting. I know it's only been a day.

I put a call into the vet, so hopefully we can figure out if something might be wrong. I don't want to over-react, but I want to make sure the baby is okay :)

Tonight, Boy and I went shopping for Oliver. :) Oliver got fixed today, they came to check out the apartment, and everything's a go! So when ever he is done feeling bad at the vet (aww Mama's poor babe..) he can come on home. So tonight, we went shopping to get all his stuff!

Did anyone realize how much stuff a puppy needs? Okay, so he probably didn't need the Longhorns jersey, but hey, Longhorns are a way of life to us and how is he supposed to attend tail-gating\games!? Exactly, in the long run it was a necessity. A real necessity.

Last night, I received a great message from Danielle, the girl who inspired me to be a sponsor of little miss Claire. (who you will be seeing shortly.) We got to talking, and ended up spending awhile chatting! I have definitely made a new blogging friend!

Well, not only did she inspire me to sponsor a little girl, she also inspired me to adopt a rescued dog. :) (She's a pretty great friend already!)

Boy and I went to go check out the shelter today, and we fell in love with a little man. He needs to get neutered, and they need to come check out our apartment before we can get him, but we do have a hold on him. So he's as good as ours!

Can I just ask a question? Who doesn't love monograms? I really do. I get everything monogrammed. :) A monogram by definition is: a graphic symbol consisting of 2 or more letters combined (usually your initials); printed on stationery or embroidered on clothing, usually with the last name as the biggest letter in the middle. I used to think everyone got stuff monogrammed, until I traveled some and realized that it's huge in the South and not so huge in the Northern states. (Not that it doesn't happen, mind you.)

I think my monogram is totally balanced, which is important to me, it looks like this:

Boy had to get up earlier than me this morning. Boy and a group of friends are participating in a marathon come February, Valentine's Day actually, and they got all geared up to start training now. Which, in my eyes, is planning way ahead. And pat him on the back for that. (Boy is NOT a planner. He's a procrastinator times twenty.) Seeing as here it is 104 degrees by the time noon hits, it's best to either run at night, or in the early, early a.m.

When I woke up this morning, this is what I saw on my nightstand:

Ladies, not only does this mean that he went, got me a chai latte, before I woke up and wrote me a note.... BUT! This also means that he remembered my Starbucks Tumbler.

stellan prayer vigil.

There is a 24-hour prayer vigil going on for a very sick little boy, Stellan, right now. I have volunteered for the time slot of 12 a.m. to 1 a.m. CST. I pray, for one hour straight, about this little boy. Lifting him up, his family up, his doctors, and anyone who comes in contact with him. For HIS will to be done. We all know, HIS will is the ONLY will of this world.

I have been involved in a few prayer vigils. I find that it works best for me to sit down, in the dark, with a youtube playlist (that I made) of worship songs, a notebook, and a Bible. My time is spent talking, singing, sometimes a little crying, lots of writing, and most of all, listening.

So I'm asking you all to lift up little Stellan in your prayers.

Though He brings grief, He will show compassion, so great is His unfailing love.

I love Southern Accents magazine. I don't have a 'style' when it comes to decorating. I love lots of different things. Southern Chic, Shabby Chic, Beach Cottage, Modern, etc. I don't combine them, but I enjoy them all.

By the time I'm done going through the magazine, it turns into this, with a million flags to tag the things I love:

Today after church, we had brunch at my parents house for church members who are embarking on a new project. In total, there was about 20 of us. We all brought something, isn't that the best way to do parties? It gives you a taste of lots of different yummny foods.

Here's the recipe for those interested:

Paula Deen's Baked French Toast Casserole

Ingredients

dash salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoon sugar
1 cup milk
8 large eggs
2 cup half-and-half
Butter, for pan
1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces)
Praline Topping, recipe follows
Raspberry Syrup, recipe follows

Praline Topping:
1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2-teaspoon ground nutmeg

Raspberry Syrup:
1 cup raspberry preserves
3 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons raspberry liqueur (recommended: Framboise)

Directions

Slice French bread into 20 slices, 1-inch thick each. (Use any extra bread for garlic toast or bread crumbs). Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13-inch flat baking dish in 2 rows, overlapping the slices.

In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk until blended but not too bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spread Praline Topping evenly over the bread and bake for 45 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Serve with Raspberry Syrup.

Praline Topping:
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and blend well. Spread over bread as directed above.

Raspberry Syrup:
Combine ingredients in a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Stir until warm and thinned out like syrup.

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Inactive Cook Time: 8 hours
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Difficulty: Medium
Yield: 6-8 servings

I know this sounds like a lot, but broken down into 2 days, it's really not. I loved it. Boy wants more a.s.a.p. :)

I'm a nanny to 5 kids. (Ages & Names: Big Boy: 7, Twin Boy A: 5, Twin Boy B: 5, Small Boy: 3, Baby Girl: 2)

I work full time during the school year, bringing them in the mornings, picking them up, doing homework with them, feeding them some dinner too.

Summer months are a bit different. When the older boys are in camp, I bring them and pick them up. Small Boy and Baby Girl are in day care. I bring them and pick them up too. When they go on vacation, it's either (a) a nice break for me or (b) a trip that I attend.

I love these kids. I've been with them for 5 years, once the Twins were born. Now that there is so many of them, I have to be honest, it gets a little daunting to do anything with them. It's pretty difficult to round all these kids up all the time. Still, I manage.

But when I see sites like this one, I wonder, why are some people nannies?!

I was invited to a Jewelery demonstration party. I'm really excited, and I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to make. The boy is excited to test what I'm going to make. It's basically a win win situation.

Rotel Dip.

They are both Southern faves, so I know it's a win win. The one really great thing about the Rotel dip, is that it's done in the microwave, so I can literally do it when I get there in 5 minutes. I have a problem about using peoples stoves and kitchens too much when bringing food over for a party, not that it technically is a etiquette issue, personally I just don't like it. I don't like feeling like I'm taking up their space. I like bringing things that I know are ready to go.

Yummmm....This is easy because I can take it out of the oven right before I leave, keep it in a travel container, and it stays warm! Then I slice it prior to serving, and it's perfect to walk around with!

Any suggestions on yummy dips? I'm looking for something new to make! I always make Taco and Rotel dip where ever I go!

The name of my blog is: a girl and her boy. I love this title. I'm not sure how it came to me, and I had a few different ideas swirling around in my head prior to this one popping out. I love the simplicity of it. The meaning behind it. I love my boy :)

I'm starting this little blog. Why not? It's a great way to document my day to day life, a great way for family that 'never sees me' to catch up on my life too. :)

So, where to start? I'm a 20 something year old Christian girl. I'm saved by His grace and beauty and first and foremost, that's the most important factor in my life. I have a great family, great friends, and a blessed life for sure. I've been in a on again off again relationship for a little over 4 years. I currently work as a nanny to five children. I love movies, chihuahuas, bubble baths, ice cream sundaes, my fave t.v. shows, spending time with friends, anything Texas Longhorns related, football (especially college), Fall, family picnics and Chinese food.
